Healing Happens Here & Now
Tapping Into Your Inner Healer.
As people who care deeply about justice and liberation, it makes sense that we feel overwhelmed at times by pain, grief, anger or anxiety about the state of the world.
Traditional mental health approaches often feel out-of-touch at best (violent at worst), pathologizing our grief and centering treatment frameworks created by the same systems harming our communities.
Here & Now Counseling was created to be an anti-oppressive force in mental health, giving folx with marginalized identities a safe and affirming space to heal and grow in our full humanity.
Sometimes this means processing everyday thoughts, feelings, experiences, and relationships while raising consciousness about and increasing our agency within the systems that govern our lives. Other times we might take a more directed approach, employing specific tools to address mental health challenges such as depression, anxiety, or trauma.
Therapy will be a collaborative and culturally-responsive journey to understand your world and your goals and build skills to unlock your innate ability to heal, grow and thrive.
We center the experience of marginalized folx and communities including:
BIPOC, LGBTQIA2S+, womxn/femmes/NB, survivors, neurodivergent, disabled, leftists, fat/larger-body, immigrants, refugees, stateless, atheists/agnostics, ENM/Polyam, BDSM/kink-identified, sex-workers, unhoused, economically-marginalized folx etc.

About your Therapist
My name is Thabo (he/they). I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor Associate (LMHCA) serving clients in Washington.
As a Black, queer, African feminist, actively working to dismantle the white-supremacist, imperialist, capitalist, heteropatriarchy, I am keenly aware of the impact mainstream systems of domination have on our physical and mental health.
I strive to create a collaborative, culturally-responsiveness, and trauma-informed space that honors your full humanity and helps you unlock your innate ability to heal, grow and thrive.
I grew up in eSwatini, a small landlocked kingdom in Southern Africa and first came to the U.S. as an international student in 2012. I graduated with my BA in Psychology from a small, liberal arts college in Northeast IA in 2016 and worked in different settings until deciding to go back to school again in 2022. I graduated with my MA in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Northern Iowa in May 2025.
Before starting Here & Now Counseling, I worked a counselor at a community mental health agency as well as at a university counseling center. I have also worked as a diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) coordinator and advocate at a nonprofit in the Twin Cities, and as an on-call advocate for an organization serving s*xual assault, tr*fficking and ab*se survivors in Blackhawk, Bremer and Buchanan counties in IA.
I’m passionate about music, art, nature, and travel. My current favorite ways to unwind are watching anime, moving my body in ways that feel good, and sharing mindful moments with my friends, my family, my partner and my liberation community.
